In a sector where many advanced air mobility companies are increasingly pursuing military and defense opportunities to secure funding and near-term revenue, Eve Air Mobility says it will remain focused on its core civil mission of developing electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for urban and regional transportation. Backed by Embraer, Eve believes the long-term commercial market for air taxis remains strong and continues to prioritize certification, flight testing, infrastructure, and commercial partnerships rather than adapting its aircraft for military roles. Company leaders argue that maintaining a clear civilian strategy allows Eve to concentrate resources on bringing its E100 eVTOL to market, even as competitors explore defense contracts to offset development costs and industry uncertainty. ... Today, Textron Aviation’s Special Olympics Airlift begins transporting athletes and coaches to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota, with flights operating through St. Paul Downtown Airport on June 19 and June 27. More than 100 volunteer owners and pilots of Cessna, Beechcraft, and Hawker aircraft are expected to participate, with arrivals and departures occurring about every three minutes.Signature Aviation, the event’s exclusive FBO sponsor, will provide operational and hospitality support at 17 departure locations, while a Signature hangar in St. Paul will serve as the Champion Center. The 2026 USA Games will be held June 20-26 at the University of Minnesota and the National Sports Center in Blaine.The 2026 airlift will also feature its first widebody aircraft, a Boeing 777 provided by the Arizona Cardinals and Gridiron Air.
