Join us in congratulating Cessna on the 70th anniversary of the Skyhawk!On June 12, 1955, the prototype 172 Skyhawk took its first flight from Cessna Aircraft Field in Wichita, Kansas. Test pilot Emil “Fritz” Feutz flew the aircraft, which was a modified Cessna 170C featuring tricycle landing gear. This design change improved ground handling and made the aircraft more accessible to a broader range of pilots.
